Overview
About the Walk
We walk along the cliffs, with stunning views out over the Atlantic Ocean, with the Seven Hogs and Brandon Bay in view. Soon we find ourselves in a paradise – a river running down the valley with pools and a waterfall over the cliffs and out to sea. Option for a cooling dip and cup of tea and we are on our way and soon to discover the remarkable views out over Sauce Creek.
History and Mythology
The Irish translation of ‘Sauce’ is ‘Sas’ meaning ‘trap’. Several families lived here and would trick ships into the bay, later robbing their cargo.
Amazingly people lived right down on the bay and remains of their homes are still visible today. Nearby on Christmas 1943, a Polish WW2 bomber plane crashed, one of 4 aircraft that crashed here in Brandon during the war.

I spent 4 wonderful hours with Maurice Galway showing me the beautiful beaches and sets for my favourite film Ryan’s Daughter. He has not only monumental knowledge but also is a very charming gentleman who made my visit to Dingle very special.

“Cannot recommend Dingle Film Walks enough. Last sunday we spent an afternoon hiking around Dunquin, chatting about history, film, life, the universe and everything! Maurice Galway is so knowledgeable and passionate about film and the local area, and his interest and curiosity in other people makes this a uniquely special tour”. #ItsAlwaysSunnyInDingle

“Maurice’s Dingle Film Walk Tour was a really magical experience. Even though I’ve travelled to the Dingle Peninsula many times over the years, I have never received such an informative and insightful perspective on the history of the place, particularly in the context of the films that have been shot there.”
Colm Tobin
-
“My first time in Ireland and while I was blown away by all the sights and sounds and people of the Emerald Isle, the Dingle Film Walk with Maurice was the highlight! Such a lovely hike through gorgeous countryside and coastline listening to amazing stories about local film shoots, history, life, all the things. A fascinating fellow and a uniquely beautiful landscape — truly a day for the books! Can’t recommend enough!”

“Easy parking and a great meeting place (with toilets and coffee) made for a good start. The intro explained what was ahead and the walk itself was very accessible. What views and wildness! And I cannot say enough about Maurice’s knowledge of the films and the people who made them – he has so many stories. A five star experience indeed!”
Mary McGillycuddy

“I highly recommend this tour to anyone who has even a slight interest in film, not just because of the fund of information Maurice has on the films that have been made in the area but also as a fabulous walking expedition around the Dingle Area. You will walk through places of scenic beauty that are not on the regular walking tours of the area, looking out on panoramic views of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. “
